Anaheim, United States — stroller-friendliness guide for parents

United States · Updated October 2026

Is Anaheim stroller-friendly?

Yes—bring a compact stroller.

Yes: the Disneyland Resort is flat, smooth and full of baby facilities, and many hotels are a short walk from the gate. The hard parts are the crowds and getting around now that the ART shuttle has stopped.

Here's what worked for other parents in Anaheim

Bring the stroller for
  • Disneyland Park — flat, wide paths, stroller parking at every ride and a Baby Care Center next to First Aid at the end of Main Street
  • Disney California Adventure — roomy plazas, Pixar Pier and a Baby Care Center in San Fransokyo Square
  • Downtown Disney — a free, flat, car-free promenade of shops and restaurants between the parks and the hotels
Use a carrier for
  • Fantasyland — the most stroller-dense corner of the resort, especially midday
  • Holiday weeks and summer — Christmas week is the busiest of the year, with long waits and packed walkways
  • Getting around without a car — ART shuttles ended in March 2026, so outside walking range it's driving or rideshares

Families come to Anaheim for the Disneyland Resort, and on the ground it's one of the easiest places in the US to push a stroller: flat, paved and wide, with a fully staffed Baby Care Center in each park (nursing rooms, changing tables, a kitchen with bottle warmers) and Rider Switch so both parents ride. Bring your own stroller up to 31 by 52 inches (wagons are banned) or rent one by the main entrance. What makes it hard is the people: Disneyland packs about 17 million visitors a year onto a fairly small footprint, so Fantasyland, Main Street at parade time and holiday weeks become stroller traffic jams. Getting around changed in 2026, because the ART shuttle that linked hotels to the parks ended on March 31. Stay within walking distance of the gate on Harbor Boulevard or in a Disney hotel, and you can skip the car and go back for naps. For Knott's, the beaches and Long Beach, you'll need a car and your own car seat.

Where to stay

Neighborhoods that work for families

Best for families

Anaheim Resort (Harbor Boulevard)

The Good Neighbor hotels along Harbor Boulevard, many a 5–10 minute walk from the main entrance. Walking distance matters more than ever now that the ART shuttle has ended: you can go back for naps without a car.

Hotels from ~$150/nightFind stays →
Budget pick

Garden Grove (south of Katella)

Chain hotels just south of the resort on Harbor Boulevard, often cheaper than the hotels right by the gate. Some are walkable, others a short drive, so check the distance before you book.

Hotels from ~$120/nightFind stays →
Near Knott's

Buena Park

Next door to Knott's Berry Farm, about 15–20 minutes' drive from Disneyland. Good value with free parking if you're doing both parks and have a car.

Hotels from ~$110/nightFind stays →
Space & kitchen

Family suites & apartments

Bedrooms that close for naps, a kitchen for bottles and breakfast, and often a pool. There are plenty around the resort area, but check the walking time to the gate.

From ~$180/nightFind stays →

The biggest stroller win in Anaheim is a hotel you can walk from. Check the real walking time to the main entrance (Harbor Boulevard addresses vary a lot), and don't count on a shuttle, since ART ended in March 2026.

Disneyland Park

The original Disney park. Fantasyland's gentle rides (Dumbo, the carousel, It's a Small World) are made for toddlers. The Baby Care Center at the end of Main Street has nursing rooms, changing tables, a kitchen with bottle warmers and toddler-size toilets.

Under 3 free

Disney California Adventure

The second park, across the plaza: Pixar Pier, Cars Land and plenty of shows for small kids. Its Baby Care Center in San Fransokyo Square has the same nursing, changing and feeding setup.

Best for toddlers

Knott's Berry Farm

America's original theme park, in neighboring Buena Park. Camp Snoopy is the draw for little kids, with a little train, swings, a kiddie coaster and three new kids' rides added in 2024. Usually much calmer than Disneyland.

Free

Downtown Disney

A free, car-free promenade of shops, restaurants and live music between the two parks and the Disney hotels. No park ticket needed, and it's a calm evening option when the parks are packed.

Free

Anaheim GardenWalk

An open-air center a block east of Disneyland with sit-down family restaurants, a cinema and a few shops. It's an easy stroller walk from the Harbor Boulevard hotels and good for dinner away from park prices.

FreeJust walk in

Arrive at opening, ride the toddler favorites while lines are short, then walk back to the hotel for a nap around noon and return for the evening. Use Rider Switch on big rides: one parent rides, then the other goes without queuing again.

Beyond the city

Easy day trips

Huntington Beach

A classic Southern California beach town with a long sandy beach, the pier and a paved beachfront path that's great for a stroller. Quieter on weekday mornings.

30 min drive

Aquarium of the Pacific (Long Beach)

A big aquarium on the Long Beach waterfront with touch pools, a shark lagoon and lots of floor-level tanks that toddlers can see into. Indoors, so it's a good break from the sun.

30 min drive

Without the ART shuttle, day trips mean driving or rideshares, so bring your own car seat. Leave after the morning rush and head back before about 3pm to dodge the worst freeway traffic.
