Fort Lauderdale is flat and beachy with great family infrastructure, though the Spring Break party reputation lingers.
Planning your trip?
Fort Lauderdale has evolved from a Spring Break party town into a genuine family destination. The city is pancake flat (coastal Florida), making strolling effortless. The Riverwalk Arts & Entertainment District is excellent for families. Las Olas Boulevard has wide sidewalks and good restaurants. The beach boardwalk is paved and stroller-friendly. A major cruise port means family infrastructure is solid. Car dependency and summer heat/humidity are the main drawbacks. Hugh Taylor Birch State Park is a gem.
