The American River Parkway offers 32 miles of paved trail. Old Sacramento is charming with wooden boardwalks (mostly stroller-navigable). Midtown has a great grid of tree-lined streets with wide sidewalks. It's less crowded and more affordable than Bay Area cities. Summers are very hot (100°F+) but dry.
