Mundomar
Animal park with sea lions, dolphins, parrots, lemurs and penguins, plus daily shows. Small enough for a toddler morning and next door to Aqualandia.

Yes along the beaches: Benidorm's two long seafront promenades are some of the easiest stroller walking on the Spanish coast, but the old town headland between them means steps and steep lanes.
Planning your trip?
Benidorm is really two flat, paved beachfronts with a rocky headland in the middle. The Poniente promenade was rebuilt with ramps and terraces to get you from street level down towards the sand, and the Levante side is a level, busy seafront with three staffed accessible beach points that have walkways towards the water. The old town on the headland is where it gets harder: the Balcón del Mediterráneo viewpoint and the little Mal Pas cove are reached by staircases, and some lanes are steep. Hotels up the Rincón de Loix hillside or inland can mean a stiff push home, and the theme parks sit out of town, so plan on the tram, a bus or a taxi. A compact stroller does the beaches; keep a carrier for the old town and boat trips.
Seven things that actually matter when you're pushing 12kg of baby + stroller through a foreign city.
Where to stay
The calmer, family side of Benidorm, along the new promenade. Flat walking to the beach and the port, fewer late bars, and easy access to the old town edge.
Right in the middle of everything: the busier beach, cafés and the old town a short walk away. Pick the end near the old town and check the hotel isn't up the Rincón de Loix hill.
A kitchen and a separate bedroom make the late Spanish dinner hours much easier with a baby. Plenty of apartment blocks line both beaches; ask for a lift and step-free entrance.
Look at the map before you book: anything on the seafront or one block back is flat, while the Rincón de Loix headland and the inland streets climb. Poniente is quieter at night than Levante.
Things to do
Animal park with sea lions, dolphins, parrots, lemurs and penguins, plus daily shows. Small enough for a toddler morning and next door to Aqualandia.
Benidorm's big water park. Under-1.20 m children get the toddler pools (Adventureland, Laguna) and the Mini Zig-Zag slide with a parent. Open summer only.
Large mythology-themed park out of town, with the Cuca Park children's area for little ones. Best for families with an older sibling; it has its own TRAM stop.
The award-winning wave-shaped seafront along Poniente beach. Ramps and terraces step you down towards the sand, with benches and beach access the whole way.
Blue Flag city beach with lifeguards. The stretch nearest the old town has plain sand underfoot and a short walk to the water; there is a staffed accessible beach point with a walkway at Calle Murcia.
Do the beach in the morning, nap through the hottest hours, then stroll a promenade at dusk like the Spanish families do. Book theme parks online: gate prices are higher.

Beyond the city
Whitewashed hilltop old town with a blue-domed church, plus a flat seafront promenade below. Easy to reach on TRAM line 9.
The city's palm-lined Explanada and Postiguet beach are flat, and a lift inside the mountain takes you up to Santa Bárbara Castle. Direct on TRAM line 1.
Short boat ride from the harbour to the uninhabited island opposite the beaches. Fun for toddlers who love boats; the island itself is rocky.
Mountain village entered through a rock tunnel, with a castle and reservoir views. Pretty, but built for walkers.
The TRAM makes Altea and Alicante easy without a car. Line 1 trams use raised platforms and line 9 trams are low-floor with ramps; Guadalest is best by car or on a coach tour.
