Raleigh is a wonderful under-the-radar family city. The biggest draw is the incredible free museums - the NC Museum of Natural Sciences and NC Museum of Art are both world-class and free. Pullen Park (America's oldest amusement park) is charming and stroller-friendly. The city has gentle rolling terrain, modern infrastructure, and a family-oriented culture. It's less crowded than bigger cities. Main downside is car dependency - transit is minimal. The Neuse River Greenway Trail is a 28-mile paved path.
