Yerevan is a surprisingly pleasant stroller city. Built with pink volcanic tuff stone, the center features wide Soviet-era boulevards and the magnificent Cascade complex (with escalators!). The metro is basic but the city is compact enough to walk. Armenian culture is extremely child-centric - expect strangers to coo over your baby and offer help constantly. Some areas have steep inclines but the center is largely manageable.

💡 Tip: Yerevan is one of the world's oldest cities but feels surprisingly modern and walkable. The 'Pink City' (tufa stone buildings) is flat along Northern Avenue and pedestrianised. Vernissage Market (weekends) has crafts and souvenirs on flat ground. Armenia is extremely affordable and Armenians adore children. The Genocide Memorial (Tsitsernakaberd) is on a hill — take a taxi.
