Copenhagen is designed for families. The entire city is flat, public spaces are thoughtfully planned, and Danish culture prioritizes child-friendliness. You'll find changing tables, nursing rooms, and helpful attitudes everywhere. The only challenge is summer tourist crowds in popular areas. This is our gold standard for what stroller-friendly should look like.

Copenhagen is one of Europe's most expensive cities. A kitchen is your best money-saving tool — breakfast and some dinners at home, lunches out. Budget €50-70/day for food for a family of 3-4 eating this way.

Beyond the city

Easy day trips

Roskilde — Viking Ship Museum

Real Viking ships, hands-on boat building for kids, and summer sailing on a reconstructed Viking ship. Flat waterfront museum. Kids are obsessed. 25 min train from Copenhagen.

25min train

Malmö, Sweden

Cross the Øresund Bridge to Sweden. Malmö has a great waterfront, Disgusting Food Museum (kids love it), and Turning Torso. Different country, just 35 min away.

Free entry (pay per ride). In a beautiful deer park forest north of Copenhagen. Less polished than Tivoli but more charming and much cheaper. Deer roam freely around the park.
