Dubrovnik Old Town & City Walls
UNESCO World Heritage medieval city. The main street (Stradun) is flat limestone perfect for strollers. City walls have steps — better with carrier for full wall walk.
Croatia · Updated May 2026
Dubrovnik's old town is stunning but challenging - marble streets, steps, and crowds. The coastal areas are much better.
Planning your trip?
Dubrovnik is breathtakingly beautiful but presents real challenges for stroller parents. The UNESCO World Heritage old town has polished marble streets that are slippery, many steps, and gets extremely crowded with cruise ship passengers. However, the coastal areas, Lapad Peninsula, and modern parts of the city are much more stroller-friendly. Croatian hospitality is legendary, and locals will go out of their way to help families. The key is planning around the crowds and choosing your areas carefully.

Where to stay
Modern hotel area with beaches, restaurants, and family facilities. Bus connections to old town. More space and quieter than staying inside the walls.
Local neighborhood with supermarkets, restaurants, and ferry port. Less touristy, good value. Bus or taxi to old town. Modern apartments available.
Apartments with sea views, often with balconies and kitchens. Many on the Lapad Peninsula or in residential areas. Great for longer stays.
Do NOT stay inside the old town walls with a stroller — the steps and narrow streets are a nightmare with baby gear. Lapad or Gruž are much more practical.
