Mokolodi Nature Reserve
Private game reserve on Gaborone's edge with giraffes, rhinos, and elephants.
Botswana · Updated May 2026
Clean, safe, and modern malls but almost entirely car-dependent - limited walking infrastructure.
Planning your trip?
Gaborone is one of Africa's safest and most organized capitals. It's flat, uncrowded, and increasingly modern with excellent shopping malls. However, the city was designed entirely around cars - sidewalks are rare outside the CBD, and distances between attractions are large. The malls (Riverwalk, Game City) are family-friendly with good facilities. As a safari gateway, most families pass through briefly. Batswana are friendly and welcoming to families.
