Ancol Dreamland (Dunia Fantasi)
Jakarta's main amusement park on the waterfront. Rides for all ages, SeaWorld aquarium, and beach area.
Indonesia · Updated May 2026
Jakarta's malls are stroller paradises, but stepping outside means traffic chaos and broken sidewalks.
Planning your trip?
Jakarta presents the sharpest contrast between indoor and outdoor stroller experiences. Inside the city's enormous malls (Grand Indonesia, Plaza Indonesia, Mall of Indonesia), you'll find world-class facilities, air conditioning, and smooth floors. Outside, sidewalks are broken or non-existent, traffic is legendary bad, and flooding is common in rainy season. The MRT (opened 2019) is modern and accessible. Indonesians are extremely warm and baby-loving - expect constant smiles.
Seven things that actually matter when you're pushing 12kg of baby + stroller through a foreign city.
Things to do
Jakarta's main amusement park on the waterfront. Rides for all ages, SeaWorld aquarium, and beach area.
132m tower in the center of Merdeka Square. Elevator to observation deck. Surrounding park is massive and green.
Huge, affordable zoo with Komodo dragons, orangutans, and a children's zoo. Shaded by old-growth trees.
Jakarta traffic is legendary — plan by area to minimize driving. Use Grab for everything. Malls are air-conditioned family playgrounds.

Where to stay
Tree-lined colonial district near Monas and museums. Best area for sightseeing with wide sidewalks.
Kemang or Senopati — expat-friendly neighborhoods with international restaurants, parks, and family malls.
Thamrin business district with mega-malls, MRT access, and central location. Good value international chains.
Stay in Menteng or South Jakarta for the best family experience. Jakarta's new MRT is clean and stroller-friendly. Grab car is essential.
Beyond the city
Island archipelago in Jakarta Bay. Clear water, snorkeling, and beach relaxation. Speedboat from Ancol Marina.
Massive tropical gardens with rainforest trees, lily ponds, and a small zoo. Cooler than Jakarta.
Cool highland city with tea plantations, volcanic hot springs, and great factory outlet shopping.
Bogor is the easiest escape — commuter train runs frequently and the botanical gardens are wonderful. For islands, book a package with boat, lunch, and snorkeling.
It depends — Jakarta scores 50/100. Doable with planning, but not effortless. Jakarta's malls are stroller paradises, but stepping outside means traffic chaos and broken sidewalks.
