Paris can be stroller-friendly if you know where to go. The wide boulevards and beautiful parks are excellent, but the metro is challenging (few elevators) and tourist sites get extremely crowded. Buses are more accessible than the metro. Parisians can seem aloof but are usually helpful if you ask.

Things to do

Activities that work with a baby

Jardin du Luxembourg — Puppet Show & Boats

Paris's most family-friendly park. Rent toy sailboats for the pond (€5), catch a puppet show at the theatre, let kids loose on the playground. Flat paths everywhere.

Playground €2, boats €5Just walk in

Seine River Cruise — Bateaux Mouches

1-hour cruise past Notre-Dame, Louvre, and Eiffel Tower. Roll your stroller right on. Best in late afternoon for golden light — babies usually nap to the gentle rocking.

From €16/adult, kids under 4 freeCheck availability

Eiffel Tower — Skip the Line, 2nd Floor

Skip the 2-hour queue with pre-booked tickets. Lifts to 2nd floor are stroller-accessible. Views are stunning. Book the earliest morning slot for shortest crowds.

From €35/adult, kids under 4 freeCheck availability

Most Paris museums are free for under-18s (EU residents) or under-4s. The Louvre is massive — if you go with kids, do only the Mona Lisa + Egyptian wing (max 2 hours). More than that is miserable with a stroller.

Where to stay

Neighborhoods that work for families

Best for families

Le Marais (3rd & 4th arr.)

Flat, walkable, full of cafés and parks. Close to everything. Place des Vosges has a gorgeous playground. The most family-friendly central neighborhood in Paris.

7th arrondissement (Eiffel Tower area)

Family Apartments in Paris

French hotel rooms are notoriously tiny. An apartment gives you a kitchen (breakfast croissants!), washing machine, and actual space. Game changer with a baby.

Paris hotel rooms are small — always check the room size in m² before booking. Anything under 20m² with a crib will feel cramped. Apartments are often better value and more practical for families.

Beyond the city

Easy day trips

For Disneyland, take the direct RER A from central Paris (Châtelet–Les Halles). Buy tickets online — never at the gate. Go on a weekday if possible, the difference in queue times is massive.
