Christuskirche & Independence Memorial Museum
Iconic German colonial church and modern independence museum. Central location.
Namibia · Updated May 2026
Small, clean, and uncrowded but designed for cars - limited sidewalk infrastructure outside the center.
Planning your trip?
Windhoek is surprisingly clean and orderly for its size. The city center around Independence Avenue has decent sidewalks and is walkable. However, Namibia's capital is fundamentally car-centric - most attractions require driving. The small size means less crowding, and the German colonial heritage left some well-planned streets. Shopping malls are modern and accessible. A great base for safari trips.
